Germany, France and Poland have agreed to deepen cooperation in research and innovation through the Weimar Triangle, marking a stronger commitment to European scientific integration. On 11 March 2026, senior officials signed a Joint Declaration of Intent at Schloss Genshagen to enhance collaboration between researchers, institutions and science organisations across the three countries. The agreement focuses on expanding joint projects at bilateral, trilateral and EU level, improving participation in programmes such as Horizon Europe, and strengthening cooperation in areas like research data governance and digital infrastructure. The initiative includes plans to develop shared science platforms to support long-term collaboration and reduce barriers to cross-border research. A new programme, “Network for the future – Weimar Triangle: Science for Europe,” will fund doctoral and postdoctoral researchers and promote academic exchange. Priority areas include artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, energy systems, digital technologies, medical engineering and green innovation, reinforcing Europe’s research and innovation capacity.
