The UK government has launched a nationwide AI sector survey to better understand how artificial intelligence businesses are expanding and shaping economic growth, with findings expected to guide future policy on innovation, regulation, and investment. Led by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology in collaboration with research firm Ipsos and supported by Perspective Economics, the study collects input from senior leaders across the UK AI ecosystem, including chief executives, CTOs, and data science directors. The survey examines business activity, product development, and long-term growth strategies, aiming to create a clearer picture of the sector’s structure. Conducted through online questionnaires and telephone interviews, each session takes around 15–20 minutes and runs from late April to May 2026. Officials say the initiative is intended to help policymakers keep pace with rapid AI development and design evidence-based strategies for skills, regulation, and industrial support in a fast-evolving technology landscape.
