Tinubu orders deployment of AI-enabled cameras in Plateau State

President Bola Tinubu has ordered the deployment of over 5,000 AI-enabled surveillance cameras across Plateau State as part of a new security overhaul aimed at preventing further violent attacks. The decision follows recent killings in Jos that left dozens dead and sparked widespread concern. Tinubu, during a visit to the state, assured residents that such incidents would not be repeated and emphasized that technology-driven intelligence systems would be used to strengthen national security. He explained that the AI-based surveillance network, already in use in Lagos and Enugu, would help security agencies improve monitoring, response times, and crime prevention. The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy has been tasked with coordinating the installation in collaboration with security agencies and the state government. Tinubu also directed security chiefs to intensify efforts to apprehend those responsible for the attacks, stressing that justice must be served and peace restored in the region.
