Somalia is increasingly looking to artificial intelligence as a tool for economic development and public-sector innovation, as academics, policymakers, and students gathered at SIMAD University for a national innovation forum focused on emerging technologies. The event, organized by the university’s AI Institute and Innovation Lab, marked World Creativity and Innovation Day under the theme “Creativity in the Age of AI.” Participants discussed how AI could reshape education, business, and governance in Somalia if supported by stronger investment in skills development and institutional capacity.
