A proposed €50 billion AI data centre project in central Croatia, known as Pantheon AI, has attracted both excitement and skepticism as it promises to reshape Europe’s digital infrastructure. Backed by a US-led investment group, the project envisions a hyperscale campus in the small town of Topusko, designed to deliver gigawatt-scale computing capacity for artificial intelligence workloads. The plan includes large-scale renewable energy infrastructure, such as solar power and battery storage systems, intended to support the energy-intensive facility.
