Morocco and Gabon have signed two major agreements during GITEX Africa 2026 in Marrakech aimed at boosting cooperation in artificial intelligence, digital governance, and human capital development. The first agreement sets a framework for sharing digital public policy expertise, harmonizing regulations, and launching training programs tailored to national development needs. It also includes fully funded scholarships for 15 Gabonese students to study at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University starting in 2026. The second agreement links Morocco’s National Institute of Posts and Telecommunications with its Gabonese counterpart to modernize academic curricula and strengthen public-sector training, including five annual scholarships over five years. These initiatives reflect a broader push for South-South cooperation in Africa, as both countries work to expand digital infrastructure, improve e-government services, and develop advanced technical skills. Morocco also continues to pursue its AI strategy, targeting significant economic value creation by 2030.
