Mauritius has launched mytGPT Education, a generative AI learning assistant developed by Mauritius Telecom in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, marking a major step in integrating artificial intelligence into the country’s school system. The tool has been introduced as part of a pilot program covering eight public schools, including both primary and secondary levels, with the goal of improving personalized learning and modernizing teaching methods. The AI platform provides tailored explanations, interactive exercises, and multilingual support in English, French, and Creole, while also helping teachers generate quizzes and analyze student performance. Officials say the initiative aligns with the country’s broader strategy to make AI accessible as a tool for national development. Mauritius, which ranked highly on regional AI readiness indexes, is positioning the project as part of its long-term digital transformation agenda. The rollout will be assessed before potential nationwide expansion, depending on system performance, data governance, and teacher adoption capacity.
