Intel has appointed Alex Katouzian, a long-time Qualcomm executive, to lead its client computing and emerging physical AI initiatives as part of a broader strategy to strengthen its position in artificial intelligence. Katouzian will serve as executive vice president and general manager of Intel’s Client Computing and Physical AI Group, overseeing efforts that connect traditional PC hardware with next-generation AI systems, including robotics, autonomous machines, and edge devices. The move reflects Intel’s growing focus on integrating AI capabilities directly into real-world computing environments rather than limiting them to cloud-based systems. In addition, Pushkar Ranade has been named Chief Technology Officer to guide long-term innovation across the company’s technology portfolio. Katouzian brings over two decades of experience from Qualcomm, where he worked across mobile, computing, and extended reality divisions. The leadership changes highlight how major chipmakers are increasingly repositioning themselves to compete in the rapidly expanding physical AI and edge computing markets.
