The government plans to introduce strict age verification requirements for social media platforms by 2027, aiming to prevent access for users under the age of 15. Instead of relying on self-declared information, platforms will be required to implement verified systems such as the state-backed Kids Wallet, which confirms age eligibility while protecting user privacy. Alongside online safety measures, Greece is already using AI in public administration, particularly in road safety enforcement. Smart surveillance systems equipped with AI are being deployed to detect violations and issue digital fines through government platforms, with plans for nationwide expansion.
