Financial institutions, asset managers, and investors in Ghana have been urged to adopt artificial intelligence (AI) to improve efficiency, scale operations, and maintain competitiveness in an increasingly technology-driven financial sector. Speaking at the Global Access Forum in Accra, organised by The Ultima World, Managing Director of Sentinel Asset Management, Kisseih Antonio, warned that organisations that fail to integrate AI risk developing a structural disadvantage within the next five to seven years. He stressed that AI is no longer a theoretical innovation but an operational necessity, highlighting its ability to enhance market data analysis, support predictive modelling, and improve decision-making in Ghana’s relatively inefficient markets. The forum, which brought together investment leaders, regulators, and banking professionals, also explored how AI-driven automation in compliance, reporting, and client onboarding can reduce costs and increase productivity, while opening opportunities for improved equity analysis, currency risk management, and retail investor participation. However, Antonio cautioned that successful adoption will depend on realistic implementation strategies and stronger institutional frameworks to ensure meaningful impact across the financial ecosystem.
