France is moving aggressively to strengthen its position in the global AI and data infrastructure race, with new measures expected to encourage the rapid development of domestic data centres. Finance Minister Roland Lescure indicated that policy announcements are coming soon, as Europe seeks to reduce reliance on foreign cloud providers and expand “sovereign” computing capacity. This direction aligns with recent major investments, including French AI company Mistral securing around $830 million to build a large-scale data centre near Paris equipped with advanced Nvidia chips, aimed at serving governments, enterprises, and research institutions seeking localized AI environments.
