Egypt has approved a new set of executive measures to accelerate its national artificial intelligence strategy and strengthen digital governance across public institutions. The announcement came during the first meeting of the National Council for Artificial Intelligence under its updated mandate, where officials endorsed the implementation plan for the 2025–2030 AI strategy, supported by 56 performance indicators to track progress. A key focus of the reforms is expanding the use of AI across multiple sectors while ensuring safe and responsible adoption of emerging technologies. The government also activated its open data policy and established a joint committee to improve data accessibility, aimed at supporting startups and developers in building digital solutions. Additional measures include a national governance framework for AI use, particularly guidelines for child-focused applications, and a capacity-building program in collaboration with UNESCO to train government officials and regional partners. Egypt says these steps are intended to strengthen its digital infrastructure, support innovation, and position the country as a regional hub for artificial intelligence and data-driven development.
