Comoros Opens National Debate on Artificial Intelligence for Digital Inclusion

The Comoros has launched its first Artificial Intelligence Forum at the Retaj Hotel, marking an important step in its digital transformation agenda. Organized by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications in charge of Digital Affairs, the event gathered government officials, experts, entrepreneurs, and young innovators to discuss how AI can support national development. At the opening, the Director General of the National Agency for Digital Development (ANADEN) emphasized the country’s goal of adopting digital solutions tailored to local needs to modernize public administration, support businesses, and improve citizen services. Discussions throughout the forum highlighted the importance of making artificial intelligence accessible to all segments of society. Experts stressed the need for training programs, public awareness, and simplified tools that address real-world challenges. While participants acknowledged obstacles such as limited infrastructure, technical skill gaps, and the absence of a regulatory framework, they also pointed to significant opportunities in trade, services, and governance. The forum reflects a growing commitment in the Comoros to ensure inclusive participation in the global digital economy.
