Cape Verde has launched the development of two major digital initiatives aimed at transforming public administration through data and artificial intelligence. The government has begun work on a national Data Strategy and an Artificial Intelligence Strategy, bringing together senior officials, digital economy experts, and international partners, including the European Union. According to Prime Minister Olavo Correia, the goal is to place data at the center of decision-making and improve the efficiency and quality of public services. The strategies aim to move government systems away from isolated operations toward a more integrated and coordinated digital framework. This would allow better data sharing across institutions and more effective governance. The planned AI framework will also emphasize responsible and ethical use of technology, ensuring that innovation supports the public interest while strengthening institutional performance and modernizing the country’s digital infrastructure.
