Cambodia has introduced a new national report titled “Artificial Intelligence: Empowering Innovation, Ethics and Inclusion in Cambodia” to guide the country’s approach to AI governance and development. The framework was developed by the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation in collaboration with United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP), with input from government bodies, academics, and international experts. Officials say the report aims to ensure that AI adoption supports socio-economic growth while remaining ethical, inclusive, and human-centered. The strategy is built on three key pillars: innovation, ethics, and inclusion, with policymakers stressing that ethical principles are essential for sustainable technological progress rather than obstacles to it. Authorities also highlighted the urgency for Cambodia to act quickly as AI becomes increasingly important in global development. The initiative reflects a broader regional trend where countries are establishing governance frameworks to balance rapid AI advancement with responsible and equitable use.
