Algeria has taken a major step toward building a technology-driven economy by launching its first start-up cluster focused on artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. The initiative aims to connect start-ups, universities, and research institutions to encourage innovation and transform ideas into real business opportunities. With over 7,800 registered start-ups and a goal of reaching 20,000 by 2029, the government is focusing on digital growth to address youth unemployment, which remains close to 30%. The cluster provides a platform for collaboration, allowing companies to share resources and expertise while improving competitiveness. Although most start-ups are currently concentrated in the capital region and funding distribution remains uneven, the initiative signals strong commitment to expanding the country’s innovation ecosystem and creating sustainable job opportunities through emerging technologies.
