The AI for Good initiative, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in partnership with over 50 UN agencies and the Government of Switzerland, is the United Nations’ leading global platform dedicated to harnessing artificial intelligence for humanitarian and development goals. It brings together governments, industry leaders, researchers, and civil society to explore how AI can address global challenges while promoting inclusive innovation. The platform is closely linked to the first Global Dialogue on AI Governance, established under a recent UN General Assembly resolution, and will be held alongside the 2026 AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva. The initiative focuses on three core pillars: developing AI solutions and knowledge through global standards that support innovation and digital transformation; building skills and capacity to equip people for the AI-driven economy; and advancing standards and policy discussions to ensure responsible AI governance. The 2026 summit features high-level speakers from international organizations, governments, and major technology companies, alongside exhibitions showcasing AI applications in robotics, health, education, mobility, and sustainability. Overall, AI for Good aims to position AI as a tool for equitable development, global cooperation, and practical solutions to pressing societal challenges.
