Preparing Jordan’s Education System for the AI Age

With millions of children still out of school and declining literacy rates, the country is focusing on strengthening foundational learning through reforms, teacher training, and digital tools under its national economic modernization vision. Programs like ERfKE and the Asas initiative aim to improve literacy, numeracy, and socio-emotional skills while building data-driven education systems. These systems integrate school and university data to support better decision-making and targeted interventions. A key focus is “AI readiness,” ensuring that schools and universities can safely and effectively use artificial intelligence. While 61% of students already use generative AI, experts warn that rushed adoption without proper infrastructure or funding can worsen inequality. Limited internet access remains a challenge for many students.
