Artificial intelligence is becoming a powerful tool for improving daily life in Guatemala, especially at the municipal level where people access essential services. Through a collaboration between United Nations Development Programme and Red Ciudadana, an Inclusive AI initiative is helping modernize local governance while ensuring fairness and accessibility. The project focuses on strengthening digital skills within communities, training municipal staff, and identifying practical ways AI can improve services like water management, urban planning, and citizen support systems. By developing AI prototypes tailored to real local challenges, the initiative aims to reduce inefficiencies and improve transparency. It also promotes collaboration between government, civil society, and the private sector to build a sustainable innovation ecosystem. Importantly, this approach emphasizes that AI must respect human rights and address inequalities, ensuring that technological progress benefits all citizens while building trust in public institutions.
