Gabon has taken a step toward strengthening artificial intelligence regulation and governance through an information session in Libreville focused on the Global Network of AI Supervisory Authorities (GNAIS), supported by UNESCO. The meeting brought together government officials, regulators, researchers, and civil society representatives to discuss how AI oversight frameworks can be developed and aligned with international standards. The session introduced participants to GNAIS, a global platform designed to improve cooperation between countries on AI regulation, data protection, and digital governance. Discussions highlighted the importance of building national capacity, sharing expertise across borders, and ensuring that African perspectives are included in global AI policy development.
