In Zimbabwe, authorities have launched a locally developed artificial intelligence platform aimed at accelerating digital transformation and strengthening the country’s position as a producer rather than a consumer of technology. The initiative was unveiled by the Ministry of ICT in partnership with private sector technology firms as part of national development strategies focused on innovation and economic growth. The platform is supported by investments in advanced computing infrastructure, including graphics processing units and fibre connectivity, designed to expand access to AI tools for students, entrepreneurs, and creative industries. Officials say the system is intended to boost productivity and support innovation across key sectors such as agriculture, education, and healthcare.
