In Rwanda, health authorities are preparing to pilot artificial intelligence tools in more than 50 clinics as part of a broader initiative aimed at improving healthcare delivery and reducing pressure on an already strained medical system. The program is supported by international partners and is designed to enhance, not replace, clinical decision-making. The initiative comes at a time when Rwanda faces significant healthcare workforce shortages, with far fewer medical professionals per population than global recommendations. AI systems are expected to help reduce administrative workload, improve diagnostic accuracy, and support faster, more efficient patient care.
