Gambia hosts UN-linked robotics competition to train youth in AI and food security solutions

The International Telecommunication Union has launched the “Robotics for Good Youth Challenge” in The Gambia, a national qualifying tournament that brings together students aged 10 to 18 to design and program robots focused on solving real-world problems, particularly food security. Held as part of a global competition series, the event allows participating teams to build robotic systems using open-source tools and compete for entry into the Grand Finale at the “AI for Good Global Summit 2026” in Geneva. Winning teams from the Gambian qualifier will receive support including travel access, workspace facilities, and participation in international networking opportunities.
