From the Democratic Republic of Congo to Botswana, governments and companies are adopting AI-driven tools to speed up geological mapping and identify high-value deposits more efficiently. In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, AI technologies are being used to shorten mineral discovery timelines and expand access to previously underexplored regions, while partnerships with global technology firms support advanced geospatial analysis. Similarly, countries like Zambia and Ghana are using AI systems to boost copper and gold exploration. In the Botswana, AI is helping diversify the mining industry beyond diamonds by identifying new copper deposits. With Africa holding a significant share of global critical minerals, AI adoption is becoming a key driver of sustainable development and long-term economic growth across the continent.
