A recent survey reveals that artificial intelligence is widely used among young people in Afghanistan, with 88% of respondents reporting familiarity with AI tools. The study, conducted by Salam Afghanistan and Salam Watandar Radio, found that more than two-thirds of youth regularly use AI, and over 84% have turned to it for advice in daily decision-making. The survey covered more than 1,100 participants across 32 provinces and shows that AI has become an important source of information, with tools like ChatGPT and Gemini among the most commonly used. Many respondents reported that AI use has reduced reliance on friends and family for advice, while a significant portion expressed concerns about increasing automation in decision-making. Around 35% use AI daily, highlighting its growing role in education and communication. Officials from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology stated that efforts are underway to ensure safe and responsible AI use while addressing potential risks and societal impacts.
