Turkmenistan to Develop National AI Strategy and Data Center Infrastructure

Turkmenistan is preparing to launch a national strategy for artificial intelligence alongside plans to build advanced data center infrastructure as part of its digital transformation agenda. The initiative, announced by Communications Minister Hajymyrat Hudaygulyyev, includes the creation of a national data processing center and a specialized AI development hub within Turkmentelekom. The strategy is part of the country’s broader digital economy program for 2026–2028, which focuses on introducing technologies such as 5G, cloud computing, Big Data, and the Internet of Things. Pilot AI projects are already being tested in education, healthcare, agriculture, and traffic management, while smart infrastructure development continues in key cities. Authorities also aim to modernize e-government services and expand telemedicine and distance learning systems. The plan reflects Turkmenistan’s effort to strengthen its technological capacity, attract foreign investment, and build a more connected and innovation-driven digital economy supported by modern AI and data infrastructure.
