China and Turkmenistan have agreed to deepen their strategic partnership with a stronger focus on energy cooperation, artificial intelligence, and regional connectivity. The discussions took place in Ashgabat between Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang and Turkmenistan’s leadership. Energy remains the foundation of the relationship, with Turkmenistan serving as a key natural gas supplier to China through long-term pipeline infrastructure. Both sides agreed to further expand capacity and improve efficiency across energy projects as demand continues to grow. Beyond traditional energy ties, the partnership is now extending into emerging technologies. China highlighted opportunities for cooperation in artificial intelligence, renewable energy, electric vehicles, and digital infrastructure as part of a broader shift toward innovation-driven collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative. The two countries also emphasized strengthening trade, investment, and regional connectivity to support long-term economic integration in Central Asia. Officials described the relationship as evolving into a comprehensive strategic partnership based on mutual trust and shared development goals, with AI and advanced technologies playing an increasingly important role in future cooperation.
