Kenya hosted the Nairobi AI Forum, an international event bringing together policymakers, researchers and technology investors to accelerate artificial intelligence adoption across Africa. The forum focused on building AI infrastructure, strengthening research networks and mobilizing investment in digital technologies. Participants emphasized that AI development must be closely aligned with national development priorities including agriculture, healthcare and climate resilience. Kenya’s growing reputation as a regional technology hub, often referred to as “Silicon Savannah”, has attracted international interest in its AI ecosystem. Policymakers say expanding access to computing infrastructure and technical education will be essential for supporting the next generation of AI startups in East Africa.
