Microsoft and Nvidia Expand Local AI and Agent Security on Windows PCs

Microsoft and Nvidia are expanding local artificial intelligence capabilities on Windows PCs, allowing developers and businesses to run larger AI models and autonomous agents without depending entirely on cloud services. The companies introduced new hardware, model-routing features and security controls at a Windows and Surface event in San Francisco. Nvidia’s RTX Spark platform combines a Blackwell graphics processing unit with a Grace central processing unit, supporting up to 128GB of unified memory for local AI workloads. Microsoft is also optimising larger models for local operation, including its MAI Code 1.1 Flash coding model with 137 billion total parameters. Support for Nvidia Nemotron models is also being prepared. Alongside local processing, Microsoft announced stronger protections for AI agents through Microsoft Execution Containers on Windows 11. These controls can restrict agents’ access to files, applications and networks.
