President Donald Trump has announced the creation of a new “Super Intelligence Force” to coordinate the US government’s efforts around artificial intelligence and emerging advanced technologies. The announcement came days after Trump signed an executive order directing the US government to use the term “super intelligence” instead of artificial intelligence in federal communications. Trump said the new force would help ensure that the United States maintains a leading position in the development of advanced intelligence technologies. The force will be led by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton, with Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering and Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael, and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor serving as vice chairs. The group will examine AI-related risks and opportunities over a 120-day period, including potential security breaches, hacking incidents and weaknesses in existing government reporting systems. It will also recommend measures to improve the federal government’s ability to respond to technology-related risks. Members are expected to include Vice President JD Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
