The policy change places the UAE in a category similar to several trusted U.S. partners, reducing licensing requirements for advanced chip exports. The decision is expected to support the UAE’s long term strategy of becoming a global hub for artificial intelligence by accelerating investments in AI infrastructure, data centres, and sovereign AI capabilities. Companies such as G42 are expected to benefit from faster access to advanced graphics processing units, helping expand AI projects across the country. The revised policy is also expected to create new opportunities for leading U.S. technology firms, including Nvidia, Microsoft, and OpenAI, to strengthen their presence in the UAE. While the move reflects closer cooperation between Washington and Abu Dhabi, officials have stated that safeguards will remain in place to ensure sensitive technologies are used responsibly and protected from unauthorized transfer.
