Meta has acquired Assured Robot Intelligence (ARI), a robotics-focused AI startup specializing in developing models for robotic control and self-learning systems aimed at complex physical tasks. The acquisition reflects Meta’s growing ambition to expand beyond digital AI into embodied intelligence and humanoid robotics, an area increasingly seen as the next frontier in artificial intelligence. ARI’s team, including its co-founders, will join Meta’s Superintelligence Labs, where they will contribute to building AI systems capable of full-body robotic control and real-world interaction. According to ARI leadership, the long-term goal is to develop general-purpose physical agents that learn directly from human behavior and scale through experience. Meta has also been investing in robotics software infrastructure, with plans to create platforms that other companies can license. The move places Meta alongside other major tech players such as Amazon and Tesla, all of whom are actively developing humanoid robots for future industrial and consumer applications.
